"I'm trying to decide between the hp 1940, hp 2210, clie th55, and clie tj37. I've used your pda comparison chart, and I noticed that the two HP models aren't wireless? Does this mean that I need to purchase a wireless card in order to access the internet in wireless hotspots? If so, how much do these cost? After doing so, will I be ready to access the internet?"
Yes, if a device is not wireless, you should be able to get a wireless card. In the case of the HP 1940, you can get an SD WiFi Card, the HP2210 either an SD or CF WiFi card. They can cost anywhere from $20 to $140...the SD cards are much more expensive than the WiFi. At that point you can access WiFi Hotpots.

"Can I use PC software (Microsoft PowerPoint, word, MSN) on the Sony clie's?
No, you can only use PDA software. PC versions will not work. Pocket PC devices come with Word and an MSN like app, but PowerPoint has to be purchased from a third party.

"I am seeking a new PDA. I have always used a Palm but I have not been satisfied. Please help direct me to the right PDA.  My needs: I want to throw away my Franklin/Covey paper planner - so I need an appointment keeper, I need to be able to make notes (easily), I need to store all my addresses, and I travel a lot but unfamiliar with the PDA internet system. I have a Dell laptop that I usually take with me."
You also might want to check out the Pocket PC devices if you havent been satisfied with Palm. The CLIE would have the same OS as Palm. The nice thing about Pocket PC is that it easily syncs with Outlook which has been a great replacement for my planner. It also stores notes and addresses well. See what you think of some of those devices.

"Is there a current PDA on the market that has EEPROM Memory? I have had 3 different Palm Pilots and my current one has the same problem the others had. If you lose power, you lose all stored information."
Most of the Pocket PC devices have available ROM space for your data. You may want to check in to those, but at this point, most don't have more than 32MB available to the user. Some future devices will have a lot more.

"I am just writing to ask if you have available or know where I can find a program to synchronize MS Outlook 97 journal with my Palm Tungsten T2?"
