Questions Asked Of and
Answered By Dave
These are real questions from
real users and the answers they got back from me.
Some of the question may be edited if I don't think it relates to the
question.
"I recently bought my first pocketpc, and have been playing with
it. I put some photos in it, worked great! But the next day, after
viewing them, I must have done something, they no longer show. They are
still there, listed in the file explorer, with the usual kb, but
clicking on them only shows a tiny, default windows graphic icon for
missing photos."
If you are view them in Pocket Internet
Explorer, you probably should turned off the ability to see images. Run
Pocket Internet Explorer and on the menu bar at the bottom, tap the icon
that is the page with the red x on it.
When the battery is exhausted, do you
lose everything in memory?"
Yes, when the battery is exhausted all
is lost unless the backup battery if full. A small watch style battery
will hold the memory for about a month if the main battery is completely
dead.
"What are expansion slots for, and what is the difference among
them?"
Expansions are for memory, wireless,
modems, cameras, or other expansions. There are two primary types you
will see, SD and CF. CF is larger than SD but more is available for it
and it tends to be cheaper.
"What is Bluetooth? Is it to communicate with your desktop, and
if so, what do you have to add to your desktop to make it functional?
What about WiFi?"
Think of Bluetooth as Wireless USB. It is
local for direct connection to another device (like to your desktop).
You just need Bluetooth in your desktop to connect it. Think of
WiFi as Wireless Ethernet. It is a local area network and can connect
you to the internet. Many people have wireless routers which allow them
to access there high speed internet connection from all over their
house. You can read more about both
here.
