"I am looking for a XV6600 PDA that I can use with my T-Mobile SIM Chip."
The HTC Harrier (XV6600) is only for Verizon/Sprint. The HTC Blue Angel is the same device with WiFi for T-Mobile/Cingular. I-mate is the easiest to get in almost any area, but look on this page for the HTC Blue Angel devices: http://www.davespda.com/hardware/pdaphone/phoneedition/index.htm

"Dave, would you be kind enough to comment on the capability of various handhelds from the point of view of using Microsoft office, word, excel etc. documents. Price is not an issue. We were thinking between palmone lifedrive and ipaq 5550. Are there any others that we should be looking at?"
Thanks, glad you like the site. I strongly believe the Windows Mobile products have better support for Office documents. That will be greatly improved in Windows Mobile 5.0 however there are not any devices with that OS currently. The LifeDrive is a strong product and they have done a lot to make it compatible though unless you need the 4GB hard drive, a Windows Mobile device may be a better choice. I would recommend you look at something other than the 5550 as it is an older product. Maybe the iPAQ hx4700 or the hx2000 series (like the hx2750 which has similar features). Both will also be upgradable to WM5.

"Is it possible to make a custom ROM image for a PDA running Pocket PC 3.0? "
Microsoft did offer Platform Builder which would allow for devices to be built, though I dont know if it is still available. I also dont know if that software actually allows for the ROM images to be put on the devices. Usually manufactures like to lock down the ROM images because of all the special things they have put in, like custom drivers.

"Can You Please let me know how to perform a Master Reset on Compaq iPAQ 3870 pocket PC?"
Should be that you press 2 application buttons (the far left and far right) at the same time that you're pressing the one and only soft-reset button with the stylus.
