Windows Mobile 2003
(Pocket PC, CE 4.2 based)

What is a Pocket PC 2003?
Pocket PC 2003 is a revised edition of Pocket PC.  Unlike Pocket PC 2002, 2003 is based on Windows CE 4.2.  The platform boasts added features and improvements over 2002 and 2000, though is similar in style and functionality.

Can I upgrade my device to PPC 2003?
Pocket PC 2002 devices began using Flash ROM technology, so many of these devices could be upgraded.  Pocket PC 2003 doesn't require anything additional to Pocket PC 2002 to run, so any Pocket PC 2002 should be able to run 2003.  The question is if your device manufacture has made an upgrade.  Check back here soon for the answer.

Why won't my PPC 2002 apps run?
Pocket PC 2003 is based on a new version of Windows CE.  The new version is built different for performance and stability improvements as well as .NET features and thus does not support the same code as Pocket PC 2002.  The only way to get the apps to run is to have a Pocket PC 2003 version.
