Palm OS 5.0 is the latest version of the Palm operating system
developed by PalmSource and introduced on PDA devices. Version 5 utilizes the ARM processor
architecture while still supporting applications developed for
previous version of the Palm OS. Version 5 turns Palm OS devices
into more powerful mobile computers then ever before. Devices
with a non-version 5 Palm OS cannot be upgraded to Palm OS version 5.
Palm OS 4.1 is still found on many Palm OS
based devices. Version 4.1 provides new features over previous versions including better support
for color devices as well as expansion options.
The Palm OS is
more of an organizer style operating system, though it also is adding
support for robust
multimedia applications. Devices on the following pages are all
Palm OS based products and run either Palm OS 3.x, 4.x or 5. |
